Katheryn Kenyatta Russell-Brown: Hello. My name is Katheryn Kenyatta Russell-Brown. When I was born, I was given the name Katheryn after my dad's mother, whose name was Katie. My mom didn't like that name so much, so she picked Katheryn and they picked a really unusual spelling of it, K-A-T-H-E-R-Y-N, which means almost no one spells it correctly, and it's kind of neat to have a common name spelled in an unusual way. The middle name that I have, Kenyatta, is in honor of Jomo Kenyatta, an African activist. And then Russell was my dad's last name. And then when I was married, I adopted the name Brown.
