Kelly Yang: Hi, my name is Kelly Yang, and the story of my name is actually pretty funny. My parents named me my Chinese name, which is not Kelly Yang, and I was born in China and then moved to America when I was six years old.

I don't remember exactly which teacher it was. I think it might have been my 2nd grade teacher who, for some reason, decided that I needed an American name. And I think she just came up with Kelly, or maybe I came up with Kelly. I can't really remember. I think she came up with it and she said, "You're a Kelly from now on." And I was like, "Okay." So, that's kind of the story of my name.
