Shaun Tan: Hello. My name is Shaun Tan. My name actually tells a little bit about my heritage. So my first name, Shaun, is an Irish name with an English spelling, and that's from my mother's side of the family. She's an Australian, but her ancestors were from Ireland and England. And my surname, Tan, is a Malaysian version of a Chinese surname, Chen, and that's because my father is Malaysian-Chinese. So his parents are from mainland China and southern China, and they migrated to Malaysia. And my father is one of six brothers and he came out to Australia as a student studying architecture. And he met my mum, and they had two children, and the last of them was me. So my name shows that I am English, Irish, Malaysian, Chinese, and above all else, Australian.
