Sherri L. Smith: Hello. My name is Sherri L. Smith. My name is spelled S-H-E-R-R-I, so a lot of people call me Sherry. But, it's pronounced Sherri like the French Cherie, which means dear one. My mother named me Sherri after a little girl she saw in a fashion show, but had the same name and the same spelling. I think that's the only other Sherri in the world that's spelled it this way.

My middle initial L., stands for Lynette, which means love bird in French. My mother and her family are from New Orleans, and French was spoken in my family long before English was.
