My mother tells me that she named me after the Elaine in the famous poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Lancelot and Elaine. I think she was reading it when she was waiting for me to be born. I've always liked my name really, except for a long period in my childhood when I wished it were Patricia, but I answered to Elaine.
