Caroline Arnold: Hello, my name is Caroline Arnold. My first name is pronounced to Carolyn even though the spelling, C-A-R-O-L-I-N-E, makes you think it should be pronounced Carol-line. Just think of my name as if it were spelled Y-N at the end, and say Carolyn. My middle name is Jane, after one of my mother's sisters. My last name when I was growing up was Schaefer, a German name, meaning shepherd. There are many variations of this spelling of Schaefer which make it difficult to remember. So when I got married and took my husband's last name, Arnold, I became Caroline Arnold. I am glad I did because Arnold is much easier to spell than Schaefer, and now I am always at the beginning of the alphabet.
