John Himmelman: Hello, my name is John Himmelman. Himmelman, which means "man from heaven" in German is often mispronounced in a variety of ways. My wife, who was an art teacher, is called Himmels by her students, which I guess keeps things simpler. I kind of like that nickname, but she got it first even though I had the name first.

Just a bit of history on the name; it used to have two N's at the end instead of the one that it has now. The two N's were in the original German spelling, Himmelmann. During World War II, people were not very friendly towards Germans in America, so my great grandfather officially removed that second N which gave it a Jewish spelling. It's a long enough name as it is, so we never saw a reason to change it back.
