Philip Pullman: Hello. My name is Philip Pullman. Philip with one L and Pullman with two L's. Pullman is the name of a company that, in the United States, 100 or more years ago, started making railroad carriages. The name became associated with travel of one sort or another, but that's not the branch of the family I belong to. As far as I know, the name Pullman, simply means someone who lives near a pool or a lake. Anyway, that's my name. Philip Pullman.
