Anne Ursu: Hello, my name is Anne Ursu. Ursu is Romanian. It means bear. It comes from the same Latin as the constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, Big Bear and Little Bear. When my grandfather came over from Romania, they wanted to change his name at Ellis Island from Ursu to Bear. I am very glad they did not. It's an unusual name and people can't quite understand what I'm saying all the time. There's no real break between Anne and Ursu, so some people think it's one word, Anneursu. Sometimes people think I'm saying Anne or Sue. My friends would get phone messages, either Anne or Sue called? They usually figured it out, eventually.
