Mitali Perkins: Hello, my name is Mitali Perkins. If you're in a coffee shop and you hear the barista call, "Vanilla latte for Tamale!", look around for an Indian woman carrying a laptop. That would be me, Mitali Perkins. Mitali means "friendly" in Bangla, the national language of Bangladesh, the country where my parents were born and in West Bengal, India, where I was born. My sister's names are Sonali (gold) and Rupali (silver), and me, Mitali. Here in the states, where I grew up, I've been called Natalie, Natalia, Tamale, and my personal favorite Atilla.
