Melvin Berger: Hello, my name is Melvin Berger. I'm very glad I have a chance to tell you how I pronounce my name. The reason is that I've found that people in different countries pronounce my name differently.

In England, I'm called Melvin Berger.

In France, I'm Melvin Berger, which means Melvin the Shepherd.

In Germany, I'm Melvin, Melvin Berger, which means Melvin citizen.

Sad to say, in English, Berger has no particular meaning.

While Berger is an easy name to say and spell, I've discovered it has one big problem. When people hear my name but don't see it spelled out, they sometimes spell it B U R G E R, instead of B E R G E R. Perhaps they think I was named after a hamburger.
