Lalena Fisher: Hello. My name is Lalena Fisher. My dad named me for the song Lalena by the British musician, Donovan. It was a popular single on the radio around the time I was born. When I was a kid, I didn't like having such a unique name that people had trouble pronouncing, but in high school, a classmate of mine loved my name so much that she later used it, spelled phonetically, for the lead character in her movie screenplay. That movie is 1994's Reality Bites and Lelaina is played by none other than Winona Ryder, but she's not supposed to be me. It's roughly autobiographical about the writer, Helen Childress. I have never met another Lalena, but I know they exist because I've run across them online and they all seem to be very interesting, vibrant people. Nowadays, I like my name very much and I consider it a gift from my dad.
