Sara Ackerman: Hello, my name is Sara Holly Ackerman. In Ashkenazi Jewish tradition, babies are named after a relative who has passed on and often are not given the exact name of the relative, but maybe given a name with a similar sound. So the name Sara was chosen in memory of my Uncle Samuel and Holly in memory of my Uncle Harry. Ackerman is a fairly common Ashkenazi last name. I have been told that in German and Yiddish, it means a person who ploughed. That is my name, Sara Holly Ackerman. And if we ever meet, you can just call me Sara.
