Christine Liu-Perkins: Hello. My name is Christine Liu-Perkins. It has three parts from three different sources. Christine is the name my father gave me. It's the name of a character in a book called The Citadel by A. J. Cronin, a book about being a good doctor that was inspirational to my father. After reading the book, my father decided he would name his daughter Christine. Liu is my family name. It's a common Chinese family name. Both of my parents emigrated from China to the United States. One interesting connection is that Liu was the family name of the emperors of the Han dynasty, which was the timeframe for my first book, At Home in Her Tomb. The third part of my name, Perkins, is my husband's family name. It's an English name that originated more than 1000 years ago.
