Rosie Haine: My name is Rosie Haine. My name is Rosie because my mom loves gardening and she loves roses, and I was born in June, which is the time of year in England when all the roses are out. I also love gardening, and I love roses, so it's nice. On my birthday, sometimes I like to go to a rose garden. My surname is Haine without an S, which is quite an unusual spelling of it. Lots of times, people mistake it for Haines, but it's not. It's Haine with no S. Apparently, it's an old English word, which comes from the word enclosure, which I guess is a farming thing.
I know that in the UK there's a lot of people with my surname down in the West Country, even though I live in the southeast myself. But it's actually quite an unusual name here, and I think there's only one other Rosie Haine in the world, according to Google. Funnily enough, my name Haine, in France, means "hated" or "hate," which is kind of funny because I do have a book out in France, and I wonder what they think of it. In fact, I have this book that's out in France, but at the same time, I like it because Rosie is such a pretty name, and it's maybe nice to have something less pretty to take the sweet edge off it.
