Janet S. Wong: Hello. My name is Janet Wong. I say Janet Wong, not Janet S. Wong, because now pretty much people know that if they're looking for a children's poet, there's only one Janet Wong children's poet, but when I started out writing I was very insistent on having the S there because there was another Janet Wong my same age who grew up across town from me in high school, and she was Janet Y. Wong. I went to law school, she went to law school too, and I wanted to make sure that people knew that I wasn't that Janet Wong. The S stands for Siu. Siu is the first half of my Chinese name, S-I-U, and my Chinese name is Siu-Chun, which means little pearl.
