Gitz Crazyboy: Hello, my name is Gitz Crazyboy. Gitz is short for Gitsigakomim.
That name is Blackfoot, but our language and our people are actually called Siksikatsitapi, and Gitsigakomim is our way of expressing love to one another. But we don't say, "I love you." We say, "I'm wrapping my love around you." I love my name. It tests me at times as a reminder to try to be as compassionate as I can be to people, whether or not I like them.
Yeah, so that's my name, Gitsigakomim, but call me Gitz.
