Lauren Kate: Hi, my name is Lauren Kate, and a little known fact about my name is that it's actually my first and middle name. That's the name I publish under. When my first book was getting published, I was just about to get married. I wasn't sure if I was going to keep my maiden name or take my husband's name and have a different married name, and so I knew that I would always be known by the name my parents called me my whole life, which was my first and middle name, so I chose that as my pseudonym for my publishing name. And my nickname is actually Birdie, which is the name of the main character in One True Wish.
