Randi Pink: Randi Pink is a name I chose for myself. Okay, so I've had three names in my life. My first name was given at birth, always Randi. Randi is the throughline, and I'm not given that back. My last name, first was maiden, which was fine for the first 20 years of life. Then I got married and I took a man's name. It was fine, it was alliteration. People seemed to like it. And after that relationship became uncontinuable, I decided that I was going to choose my own.

One of the most powerful moments of my life was walking in the Birmingham City Courthouse and walking up to the counter and the lady behind said, "Okay, you're changing your name. Are you getting married?" I said, "No." "Are you getting divorced?" She said, "Where did you get this name from?" I told her, I said, "I made it up. It's mine." And that's where I got Randi Pink from.
