Kayla Cottingham: So my name is Kayla Cottingham. The name Kayla, I think originally came from just a fairly generic baby name book where my mom named all of my siblings so that we all have Ka sounds at the beginning of our names and so she was kind of going with the theme and at that point I was child number three. So I think it was just like, all right, yeah, this one fits and we're kind of running out of current names. So I'm pretty ambivalent about it. I don't think, it's very classic '90s where you can tell that I was born in 1995. I feel like there's not that many Kayla's now as much as there were when I was born. I feel like if I were to change my name, I would've gone with the other name that my parents were thinking of for me, which would've been Luna.

And I know that that's kind of a very popular dog name these days but I also think that I would've made a killer Luna, or they also considered Zinnia, which would've been cool too. I just think that having a flower name or a plant name just generally would've been a little bit more elegant sounding as opposed to being semi-named after a character from Days of Our Lives or All My Children, I can't remember which one it is. It's one of those sitcoms that was really popular in the '90s but yeah, generally that is where my name comes from. And then obviously Cottingham is like the world's most British sounding name, but we're actually Welsh, so fun fact.
