Most people call me Katie, but the reason my name is Katrina is because my parents wanted to name me Katie, but they didn't want to name me Katherine. So my dad was a high school English teacher and his best friend taught English right next door. And one day, out of the blue, Jim comes running into my dad's classroom and is like, "I have her name." And my dad is like, "What are you talking about?" And Jim was like, "I have your daughter's name." He said, "If you want her name to be Katie, but you don't want it to be Katherine, name her Katrina." It's something I really love about my name because Jim passed away quite a while ago, so it's a way to honor him and his relationship to my family.
