Cary Fagan: Hey there. My name is Cary Fagan.
Fagan is not my original family name. My father's name was Feigenbaum. Often, people think my name is Irish, but in fact, it's a Jewish name. My father was born in Warsaw, although he grew up in Brussels. When he came to Canada during the war as a student, he changed his name.
Now as far as my first name goes, Cary, my mother was a fan of Cary Grant, the great Hollywood actor, british-born. I've always been very proud to have Cary Grant's name because he was a very suave, handsome, sophisticated man.
I supposed it's a bit of an irony in that Cary was not Cary Grant's original name. He changed it. I think his original name was Archie Leach, which is not a very Hollywood sort of movie star sounding name, so they changed it and I could have ended up an Archie, I suppose, but I've ended up a Cary instead.
