Kahran Bethencourt: Hello, my name is Kahran Bethencourt. I always tell people my name is pronounced like the car ran. It's definitely a unique name. I've only found a couple of other people with the same spelling and pronunciation. While there's no particular meaning to my name, it definitely has an interesting way of coming to be. When my mom was pregnant with me, she had a hard time trying to settle on a name. She wanted to wait until I was born to name me.

After I was born, she decided to look at current events for inspiration.
On the day that I was born, she was watching the news and saw the name Tehran flash across the screen. The day that I was born was the final day of the Iranian embassy siege. My mother's name is Karen and she knew she wanted me to have a similar name to hers, but she also wanted it to be unique. So she got the idea to take the K A from her name and mix it with the H R E N from Tehran to make Kahran. I grew to love the uniqueness of my name as I can truly say it's definitely one of a kind.
