Schele Williams: Hi, my name is Schele Williams. My actual real name is Antoinette Michelle Williams. That is the name that is on my birth certificate, but when I was in the hospital as a baby, my parents thought that Antoinette was a little too formal for me. And they started calling me Schele. And all through, growing up I spelled Shelly S-H-E-L-L-Y until I was in the seventh grade and I was thirteen years old and I decided that I someday was going to be a star. I wanted to be on stage. And I thought S-H-E-L-L-Y was not as unique as I wanted it to be. So I played around with lots of different versions of spelling. And then I came up with S-C-H-E-L-E. And that was it. That was my version of Shelly. And from then on, I have spelled Schele, S-C-H-E-L-E. And everybody I know who has ever known me has always called me Schele. A lot of people don't even know that I have the name Antoinette, but when you see my name, it is a version of Michelle, the C-H-E-L-E is from Michelle, and that is the special and unique way that I came up with the spelling of my name.
