Julia Kuo: Hi, my name is Julia Kuo. My last name is pronounced similarly to the quo in status quo. It's an imperfect translation of my family name in Mandarin, which is actually pronounced GWO-AH instead of quo. Some people with the same Mandarin last name have chosen to spell it in English as G-U-O or guo. I think that's much closer to the Mandarin name 郭 than quo is.
