Dimity Powell: G'day. My name is Dimity Powell. People who know me well often address me as Dim. I tell them, "Dim, but nice," a cheeky reversal of Harry Enfield's Tim Nice-But-Dim character. Dimity is an old fashioned name that originates from a cotton fabric describing a warped thread. I'm all those things: old-fashioned and slightly warped. Powell is Welsh, but my maiden name was Zee, which is Dutch for sea. Ironically, I do love the ocean and sailing, but I'm not Dutch. Being half Chinese, I also have a Chinese surname, but don't ask me to pronounce that.
