Vashti Harrison: My name is Vashti Harrison. I am an author and illustrator. My name comes from the Bible, from the book of Esther. When I was a kid, I didn't really pay too much attention to the story. I just knew that Queen Vashti shows up early in the book, and then is ousted as queen. But I'd go back and read the story as an adult and found out that she's really a total, kind of a feminist hero, so I really like sharing that with people. I don't know if I identify too much with being a queen, but I really like that she stood up for herself.
