My middle name is Dawn, which means enlightenment. So I feel like I have this really beautiful power that I carry with me in the name that I was given.

Then my last name, Starling, that's my maiden name. A lot of the people in my family sing. My mom has been a lead singer for a reggae band for a long time. She's also sung in jazz bands and done musical theater. My uncles are part of bands in Pittsburgh. I used to sing in church. So we always think about us Starlings being ones who are spreading song and spreading joy and the fact that we have wings and we can fly.

Then my married last name being Lyons, I love that that's another name that has animal imagery, an animal that is fierce and that is protective of those that the lion cares about. So my name, Kelly Dawn Starling Lyons is something that really describes who I am and that gives me strength when I need it.
