Maria Turtschaninoff: So my name is Maria Turtschaninoff. And my first name is easy. It's one of the most common in the world, I think. And I pronounce it as they probably do in Spanish. Maria. My last name is a bit of a tongue twister. The thing is, I probably don't even pronounce it right. It's originally Russian as my great grandparents came over from Russia to Finland during the Revolution. Technically it should have the feminine form, Turtschaninoffa, I think. But Finnish name laws prohibit that kind of change from your parent's last name. And my family pronounces and spells it the Swedish way, Turtschaninoff.
