Rosilyn Seay: Hi. My name is Rosilyn Seay. When my mother would tell the story of my name, she would always laugh. You see, she wanted to name me after a famous actress whose name was Rosalind Russell. But, she wasn’t sure of the spelling. So, while she was in the hospital, she asked a nurse, who convinced her it was spelled R-O-S-I-L-Y-N. Later, my mother found out that the correct spelling was actually R-O-S-A-L-I-N-D. But I don’t think it ever occurred to her to change it. Still, no matter how you spell it, Rosalind or Rosilyn, the name is of Spanish origin and it means beautiful Rose. Which is kinda cool!

Now, my last name is so simple, it’s only 4 letters, S-E-A and Y. Some people pronounce it “say” or others “see”. What is surprising, is that some people will see the letters, but when sounding them out they will add an extra L or an S in the middle and it becomes “seelay” or “seesay”. Go figure. So, to all from, now until forever, the correct pronunciation of my name is ROSILYN SEAY.
