Randy Ribay: Hi, I'm Randy Ribay. Last name is pronounced REE-buy as in you buy something, you really like it, so you re-buy it. It is a Filipino name that comes from the Bicol region of southeastern Luzon in the Phillipines and the fun fact is that a lot people in that region have last names that begins with the letter R. Because when the Spanish colonist were trying to organize people and come up with a census of some kind they actually divided each region in the Philippines by letter. And so the people in those regions kind of had to pick a last name from a list or come up with a last name that had that letter so the Spanish could identify where people came from in the country.
