Morris Gleitzman: Hello, my name is Morris Gleitzman.

Some of you may have recognized that my name has a sort of German sound to it and that's because, although it comes from the Polish Jewish part of my family, they came from Krakow in southwestern Poland, it's close to the Austrian border and over the last few centuries, Austria has borrowed that piece of land several times. So there's been a lot of mixing up of names and quite a few of the people from that area in Poland have Austrian German sounding names, and Gleitzman is one of those.

I'm glad my name includes some of my family history because I always think names are a bit like a kind of title for our own family story and I like that idea.
