Joan Holub: Hello, my name is Joan Holub. That's a "Ha," as in "Ha, ha, ha." Lub, which rhymes with bathtub. My name comes from Czechoslovakia where my great, great grandparents grew up.

In Czechoslovakia the word "Holub" is pronounced ha-LOOB, and that's because it's a sound a pigeon makes ... Halub. Halub ... when it coos. In the Czechoslovakian language Holub means pigeon, but somewhere over the years my family changed the pronunciation of the name from Ha-LOOB to Holub.
