Sarvinder Naberhaus: Hello, my name is Sarvinder Naberhaus. My name travels more than 8,000 miles along with myself from India to the United States. I was only three years old when I moved to the U. S. I actually a nickname, a name of endearment that my parents gave me. I didn't like the name and I was glad when years later in college, one of my professors started calling me by my given name which is Sarvinder. Most Americans can't pronounce it so they call me Sarvinder, which I think is much easier to say too. My last name was Bal spelled B-A-L with only one L. Most people pronounce it Ball. I love my short last name, which was at the beginning of the alphabet and being only three letters long, it was easy to write. Then I married my husband, who's full-blooded German even though his family has been here for several generations in the U. S. I took his last name, which was Naberhaus. Most people spell it like they would the words neighbor and house, but it actually has a German spelling, N-A-B-E-R, Naber plus H-A-U-S, Haus. Naberhaus. I'm now Sarvinder Naberhaus.
