Joy N. Hensley: Hello. My name is Joy Hensley. You know, when I was young, I hated my name. I thought my parents called me Joy just to be sarcastic or ironic or something, because I was anything but joyful as a teen. As I've gotten older, I've come to love my name, though. I found that I'm more comfortable fitting into this name the more comfortable with myself, not with who I think other people want me to be.

Hensley's pretty common where I'm from in Virginia. My grandfather, who was the mayor of a small town back in the day, was big into genealogy. When I was growing up, I was always hoping that I'd have some famous bank robber or a relative that had done something completely horrific. See how that doesn't really fit with Joy? Now that I'm older, though, I do realize that my one relative-based claim to fame is one that I'm thrilled with. I am a cousin of Patsy Cline, who was born Virginia Patterson Hensley. She was an amazing singer back in the 50s and the 60s, and is known for her songs Crazy, Walkin' After Midnight, and I Fall to Pieces.

So, that's a little bit about me and my name.
