Steve Hockensmith: Hello, my name is Steve Hockensmith. There aren't many Hockensmith's in the world. I guess even fewer Steve Hockensmith's, that goes without saying but I said it. Because Hockensmith is anglicised from one dude's name-- a guy named Conrad Hackenschmit who came over to America about 250 years ago. He never seemed to really settle on a spelling of his name, which is why you will also find Hockersmith's out there and Hackensmith's. We're all pretty much coming from the same guy and I just happen to be lucky enough, I guess, because I like it. It ended up a Hockensmith.

One thing about Hockensmith, it's a simple name really, but it's a long name, so as a kid I had a really hard time learning how to spell it and my mom taught me how to spell it using a really simple device which was a song. "Who's the leader of the band that's made for you and me? H-O-C-K-E-N-S-M-I-T-H." Doesn't quite rhyme, but it worked. I learned how to spell it and forever shall I raise my banner high.
