Adina Rishe Gewirtz: Hello. My name is Adina Rishe Gewirtz, and it's a fairly hard to pronounce name because each of the pieces of it come from a different country. My first name, Adina, is Hebrew for the word delicate. I was actually named after a great grandfather whose name is Abraham, but they couldn't name a girl Abraham so they looked around to find what name they liked for a girl that started with an A, and they picked Adina.

My second name, Rishe, is my maiden name. That, we think, was a reference to redheads in Russian. We had a lot of redheads in the family. There's an old, old picture of one of my great grandfathers with a big red beard.

My last name, Gewirtz, which is my married name, my husband tells me is German for spice. They believe that a long time ago his family were spice merchants and that's how they got the name Gewirtz. So my name is Adina Rishe Gewirtz.
