Pamela Zagarenski: Hello. My name is Pamela Zagarenski. Zagarenski is a Lithuanian name. My great-grandparents came here from Lithuania, and I actually recently just discovered an article in the New York Times about the last Jews of Zagaren.
And I never knew before that there was even a place called Zagaren in Lithuania, because my great-grandparents never talked about where they came from and why they came here. Partly because they only spoke in Lithuanian when I was little and partly because maybe they didn't really want to talk about it. It might have been just too hard. But I'm glad that I'm here and I'm glad for their courage.
