Leigh Bardugo: Hello. This is Leigh Bardugo. I've been called quite a few things. Leigh Bardujo, Lea Bardago, and my favorite is probably Lee Bardingo. Bardugo comes from the Spanish Verdugo, which means executioner or a public hangman. We think my ancestors fled Spain during the Inquisition, but it's hard to be sure, and there is a Verdugo coat of arms and a Verdugo castle in Toledo. I went to see it, and it's not very castle-y. It's a rather disappointingly squat lump of rock.
