Maile Meloy: Hello. My name is Maile Meloy. Maile, my first name, is a Hawaiian name. It's a vine that grows in the mountains on Kauai and on the big island, and you see it in long, green open leis the bridegrooms wear in Hawaiian weddings. My parents were living in Hawaii when they chose the name, but they moved back to Montana before I was born.

Meloy, my last name, is Irish, but it has a fully spelling because it was French a very long time ago.
