Trilby Kent: Hello. My name is Trilby Kent. My surname is spelt and pronounced exactly the same as the English county. I was named Trilby after the title character in George du Maurier's 1894 novel about an artist model in Paris who falls under the spell of the evil Svengali. Hypnotized by Svengali, the tone-deaf Trilby is transformed into a talented singer. The book was one of the main inspirations for Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera. But I'm sad to say, I've never been hypnotized and the singing, alas, is not one of my talents.
