Stan Mack: Hello, my name is Stan Mack. I'd say pronouncing Mack isn't much of a challenge. How I came by it might be more interesting. Picture this: It's the late 1800s on Ellis Island. An official looked at the long lines of bedraggled immigrants in front of him and patiently says to the next person in line, "Come on, mack. Move it along." And that immigrant, my great-grandfather, with possibly an unpronounceable last name and not much English figured he was being assigned a new name, a real American name, Mack.
