Kim Wayans: Hello. My name is Kim Wayans. Now, I don't really know that much about the origins of my last name, Wayans, but I do have an interesting story about my first name. I almost wasn't named Kim. My dad wanted me to be named Samantha and he was campaigning really hard for that name, according to my mother. Well, when I was born, my mother looked at me and called me Samantha and she said I scrunched my face up into a sour little expression and started to cry. So, she decided Samantha wasn't the name for me. Then, she said the name Kim. And when she called me Kim, she said I smiled so brightly and just started cooing, giggling and she knew that that name should be the name that sticks. That's how I came to be known as Kim Wayans.
