Bill Konigsberg: Hello. My name is Bill Konigsberg. I'm not even the most famous children's author with that last name. There's E.L. Konigsberg except for she pronounces her name KAHN-IGS-BERG. I think she's wrong, personally. I believe it is CONE-IGS-BERG. I've always believed that. The name means, in German, king's mountain -- Königs Berg . In my family, there's a big rift about how to pronounce the name. My father's side of the family, for some reason, thinks that the name is CANE-IGS-BERG and they get very angry when anybody doesn't say CANE-IGS-BERG, but I'm simply not interested in having a name that I have to explain how it's pronounced every time somebody sees it spelled. When I taught at Arizona State, I had everyone call me Mr. K because, frankly, it's easier. The only other thing I could tell you about my name is that it's also the last name of the director and actor Woody Allen.
