Xavier Garza: Hello. My name is Xavier Garza, and I was born in a border town, raised in Rio Grande City. I didn't like my name at first, because my mother spelled it with an X, and everybody, when I went to school, told me, "Your name is supposed to be spelled with a J," but then when I got older, I came to really appreciate the fact that my name was different. I could say my name was Xavier, but also say my name was Xavier, and I could also say that my name was Xavier, and I always thought it sounded so nice, Xavier. So yeah, at first I wasn't too happy about my name being spelled with an X, but as I grew older, I really, really came to like it, and I thank my mom whenever I get a chance, for having decided to spell my name with an X. My last name, Garza, literally translates to crane, you know, the big bird with the long legs.
