Chris K. Soentpiet: Hello, my name is Chris Soentpiet. "How do you pronounce your last name?" People often ask me. I say, "My last name is pronounced 'Soon-Pete.'" My name, Chris Soentpiet, is my American name, which was given to me when I was adopted from Korea by the Soentpiet family.

Since I was adopted in Hawaii, they also gave me a Hawaiian name, which is Keli'ih Kawa'a . And I kept my Korean name, which is Han Gun Sup. So, on my American passport it reads, "Christopher Keli'ih Kawa'a Gun Sup Han Soentpiet." But my friends and family just call me Chris.
