Peter Magubane: Hello. My name is Dr. Peter Magubane. I'm a photographer here in Johannesburg, South Africa. I've been a photographer since 1954, working for Drum magazine. Those days were not easy at all because it was the apartheid era. We, as black photographers, were treated like spies. Especially, black photographers were not to be trusted because they sent the material outside of the country. But we did not mind that. It was our duty to show the world how apartheid operated. Wherever I was, I moved with God. God was overlooking me. This is why today I am still alive to tell the tales.
