Jane St. Anthony: Hello, my name is Jane St. Anthony. My name came with my father's family to Canada. It's a name that originated in France. When I was in grade school, I remember my father paused before going in the garage door one day, and what he said to me was that when I got married, I should make a point of keeping my name. He said it was a fine name, and it served many people in our family well, and that I shouldn't change it. He went on to say, to my horror, that maybe I'd marry someone who'd want to take my name on, because it was such a great name. When I got married many years later, of course, I did keep my name, because I was very attached to it.
