Xelena Gonzalez: Hello. This is Xelena Gonzalez. So, I have an unusual name. It starts with an X. The X can sound like many different things, especially in Spanish, and my name is pronounced in Spanish. It's like Selena, but I say Selena. That is the name my parents gave me. The S pronunciation of the X comes from Nahuatl. This is an ancient language of the Aztec culture. My sister, my older sister, is named Xochitl. So her name is spelled with an X, and since she came first they had me match her with an X. And I wrote a little guide for my college roommate before I met her because I certainly didn't want her to say my name wrong, and she said it was important that she got it right. And I really appreciated that. So I wrote a little guide for her, the way we used to have when we were little and learning how to spell. So it goes like this. It's broken down into three parts. Xe-le-na. Xe, as in will you set the table? Le, as in let me help you. Na, as in I do not want to eat green beans for dinner. Xe-le-na, so you just take off the Ts in that little guide. I hope that's helpful.
