Award-winning author Rita Williams-Garcia collects objects to help her envision the characters that are taking shape for any new story she's writing.

Meet-the-Author Book Reading: Ruta Sepetys on hidden history

Thanks to a tip from a family member, young adult author Ruta Sepetys was inspired to learn about a maritime tragedy that took the lives of an estimated 9,000 people towards the end of WWII. Her research laid the foundation for her historical fiction novel Salt to the Sea (Philomel Books 2016).
